My Junior year started off as a roller coaster of life changing experiences. My biggest life changing experience of my life the one that changed me completely happened October 2, 2010, the day I didn't even know who I was. I stared my Junior year off by doing on line schooling due to a cruise that we were taking in November for forty days. The day before the cruise I ended up closing lining myself, ending up with a five inch skull fracture and bleeding in my brain. It was a whole process of relearning everything from my speech without a stutter to walking without a limp. I regained my walking back, and have a little stutter in my speech. It was a lot of working and spending time with multiple doctors and having a lot of patience. So I took a year off and worked on getting my GED at the Adult Education Center but I decided to wait on my last test, so in the fall if I wanted to I could attend high school. So with that choice I am now at Animas High School repeating my Junior year. It has defiantly been difficult not knowing what my flaws were when I tried working on school assignments, or communicating to my classmates or teachers. I am proud to say I am a Junior at Animas High School and choose to attend here next year as well as a Junior. Animas has changed me for the better as a person and young adult in the world. Animas High School is a place you can come to and feel like you belong without being judged or questioned for things that you would be if you were in another school. The teachers aren't normal teachers they are your best friends, your inspiration through out the day to not give up and keep pushing yourself as a student and young adult. Animas High School that prepares students for post-secondary success by creating critical thinkers and engaged, service-oriented citizens able to meet the challenges of the 21st century. This is accomplished through:
A rigorous academic program that inspires a love of learning and teaches habits of success.
Engaging students through project-based learning and community partnerships that make education uniquely relevant to students.
A commitment to a collaborative environment within the school.
A culture of excellence that challenges yet supports each student.
The utilization of applied technology.
A small school environment where strong faculty-student relationships develop.
In preparing student for post-secondary success, Animas High School fosters the fundamental attributes of compassion, respect, integrity and resilience. Students are held to high standards of personal responsibility, as demonstrated by their attitudes, behaviors and scholarship. Ultimately, students will become effective citizens, contributing competently and energetically to the world around them. This has changed me and I know many others in Animas High School, with our lives outside of school due to be a responsible young adult that represents ourselves in a high manor. I have grown up a lot in the last year sense I have moved out of my parents house and living on my own and figuring out what life is when you are the one responsible 100% and don't really have a shoulder to lean on.
